Awards -

Annual awards are given to employees of the Public Safety Bureau, Offender Supervision Bureau, and a Civilian employee.  2008 annual awards were given to:

Public Safety Bureau - Deputy Rick Feit

As well as performing his sworn duties, Rick demonstrated his robust skills instrumental in the preconstruction stage of the Blood Alcohol Testing (BAT) Mobile.  Rick has served Weld County for 5 years.

Offender Supervision Bureau - Officer Thomas Davies

During his two years of employment with Weld County, Tom�s dedication, teamwork and support of the Sheriff�s Office have been displayed in numerous activities he is currently involved in.

Civilian Employee of the Year - Erich Hoffman

As an employee of three years, Erich has demonstrated his dedication to the department through his responsibility, dependability, positive attitude, willingness to lend a hand where it is needed, and capacity to take on any role without being asked.

Retirements & Promotions -

The Sheriff�s Office had approximately 346 full time employees in 2008 and 11 part time employees.  About 1/3, or 119 of the total number of employees are certified by the Colorado POST board.

There were 47 promotions in 2008.  The promotions were:

- Sarah Magdaleno was promoted to Office Tech III

- Tim Schwartz, Sam Kaneta, Pete Wagoner, Vickie Harbert, Josh Noonan, and Donnie Patch were promoted to Deputy III

- Keith Stephens, Mark Geyer, David Porter, Chris Cruz, Jason Converse, Lisa Carpenter, Jennifer Foy, Glen Cowan, and Sean Standridge were promoted to Deputy II

- Fred Walker, Mike Wilson, and Jeff Matthews were promoted to Detective

- Alan Caldwell, Todd Deutsch, Greg Broswell, Ryan Broswell, Ken Leach, and John Sandness were promoted to Commander

- Steve Reams was promoted to Deputy Bureau Chief

- Janelle Bluel, Stormy Burge, Jeff Carr, Joseph Koppes, Joan Linneman, Shawn Mjelde, Dan Perusek, Chadd Riordan, Sheila Sellers, Shamron Solomon, Edward Thebeau, Aaron              Walker, Gina White, and Bridget Willmott were promoted to Corrections Officer II

- Jerry Aguirre, and Lori Kuzma were promoted to Corrections Officer III

- Janet Batman, and Megan Rocklage were promoted to Booking Technician

- Arielle Sawyer was promoted to Booking Shift Supervisor

- Virginia Fields, and Matthew Elbe were promoted within the Programs unit.

During 2008 three employees retired from the Sheriff�s Office.
