Civil Process
The Weld County
Sheriff's Office, as part of a required function, serves civil process
and precepts from the courts. Civil papers are generally court issued documents
but may also pertain to small claims court summons or subpoenas. A fee
for service is required along with a fee for the mileage which varies.

Civil papers are received only at the main Sheriff's Office complex located
at 1950 O Street, Greeley, CO 80631. Our mailing address is the same:

Sheriff Sales are
held on Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. on the east front steps of the court house
located at 9th Avenue and 9th Street, Greeley. These sales are held only

EVICTIONS |
|
|
|
|
Evictions are the
end result of a landlord tenant dispute. The eviction process involves
three steps.
1.
Demand for possession or rent. This document may be served by anyone over
the age of 18 not related to the action.
2.
Summons and unlawful Detainer. This document has a court date set for both
the plaintiff and defendant to appear before the judge. Possession of the
property is ordered returned to the plaintiff at this step after 48 hrs
have expired and the judge issues the Writ of Restitution. This document
may be served by anyone over the age of 18 not related to the action.
3.
Writ of Restitution, the document issued by the court to return the possession
of the property back to the property owner. This document is brought to
the sheriff's office for a scheduling appointment. This document is required
to be served by the sheriff's office.

CIVIL PROCESS FEES
If you have civil papers
to be served with an Erie, Longmont, or Brighton mailing address
please call us to verify that the address is in Weld County and not
a neighboring county (Boulder, Larimer or Adams). This will enable us
to direct you to the proper jurisdiction and help eliminate wasted
trips and fees.
