The Weld County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information about a man and a woman suspected of stealing an SUV from a rural home and using a credit card left in the vehicle to purchase goods in Greeley.
About 8:30 a.m. Monday, deputies responded to a home in the 13900 block of Weld County Road 19 west of Platteville on a report of a stolen gray, 2006 GMC Yukon Denali. The vehicle owner told deputies her daughter used the car last, parking it at their home about 5 p.m. Sunday. The vehicle owner realized the Denali was missing Monday morning and immediately called 911.
After stealing the vehicle sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning, the suspects traveled to Juggy’s Food Mart in Greeley where they used the daughter’s credit card to purchase cigarettes and lighters. The credit card was used again later that day when the suspects bought a five-gallon pail of kerosene from a Greeley Cenex gas station location.
Managers of the Cenex were able to provide deputies with security camera footage of the Denali and the suspects at the gas station. The woman is described as standing 5 feet 5 inches tall, having a medium build and wearing light brown hair with purple streaks. Deputies have not yet received a physical description of the man.
Anyone with information about the suspects or the location of the stolen Denali is asked to call Weld County Non-Emergency Dispatch at (970) 356-4000 and ask to speak with Deputy Alex Fischer.
Anyone with information regarding this or any other crime is asked to call the Weld County Sheriff’s Office at (970) 356-4015 or Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
