Weld detectives arrest 2nd suspect in November 2021 Johnstown homicide

An Odessa, Texas man was booked into the Weld County Jail this week on multiple charges stemming from a homicide in November outside of Johnstown.

Seferino Hermosillo, 36, was arrested Jan. 6 in his hometown by the Odessa Police Department. He was extradited Wednesday to Weld County and booked into the jail on charges of second-degree murder, illegal discharge of a firearm, menacing, second-degree kidnapping and false imprisonment, all felonies. He is being held on $500,000 bond.

Hermosillo was wanted by the Weld County Sheriff’s Office following the Nov. 21 murder of Gilbert Gutierrez near Johnstown. He is the second suspect arrested in the case. No other suspects are being sought in the investigation.

Marco Gutierrez-Herrera was arrested Nov. 22 during a multi-agency SWAT operation in Julesburg that also resulted in the rescue of a hostage.
