Weld Sheriff seeks info about suspect at center of numerous cases

The Weld County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information about one of the county’s most wanted suspects.

Colton Thompson, 34, of Weld County, is the subject of numerous criminal investigations by the sheriff’s office and several neighboring agencies. He has an active warrant for second-degree assault.

On Monday afternoon, deputies spotted and attempted to stop a vehicle belonging to Thompson on Colo. 119 and Interstate 25, near Del Camino. Instead of yielding to deputies, the vehicle struck the patrol car and disabled it.

The suspect vehicle was later located in an industrial park in Broomfield. One occupant of the vehicle was located, but Thompson wasn’t in the area.

Thompson has ties to Weld, Larimer and Boulder counties, as well as the Denver metro area. Anyone with information about Thompson or his whereabouts is asked to call Weld County Regional Dispatch at (970) 350-9600, option 4.
