The Weld County Sheriff’s Office is asking for information about an early Monday morning theft of more than $200,000 in equipment from a business north of Johnstown.

At 7:20 a.m. Monday, deputies responded to a report of a stolen vehicle and trailer at an oil and gas site near Weld County roads 52 and 15 1/4. The caller from that scene reported someone dumped several items of equipment, causing about $5,000 worth of damage to the site.

Deputies later determined the dumped items were stolen about midnight Monday from a nearby business located in the 24000 block of Weld County Road 15 1/2. Deputies responded to the business where they watched several pieces of security video of the incident.

The video shows about midnight a silver SUV with dark windows enter the business lot. Several minutes later the SUV leaves. It’s followed by a white 2007 Toter GMC 6500 truck and attached 40-foot goose neck trailer loaded with equipment. The suspects drove to the oil and gas site where they dumped part of the trailer’s load, opting to keep the larger ticket items.

In addition to the truck and the trailer, the suspects stole 400 feet of power cable, a 60-foot lightweight lubricator, a lubricator top sub adaptor and miscellaneous tools and chains. Among the items damaged when they were dumped at the oil and gas site were a blowout preventer and an air skid pressure control. The total value of the stolen and damaged property is estimated at $219,000.

The GMC 6500 truck was recovered Tuesday morning in Evans. Deputies are still trying to locate the stolen goose neck trailer and equipment.
