The Weld County Sheriff's Office offers a full Colorado POST Academy for law enforcement agencies throughout northern Colorado; WE DO NOT ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FROM NON-LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL.

The Weld County Law Enforcement Training Academy has been providing quality law enforcement education since the spring of 1994. During its 20 plus years the academy has consistently provided cadets with a balanced environment that promotes teamwork, integrity and the tools to successfully serve their community. The WCLETA boasts a success rate that places it consistently in the top 5 academies state wide.

The next academy for agency personnel and agency volunteers will be February 12th, 2017 - December 12th, 2017.

Below is a link to a list of required equipment you will need while attending the WCLETA. Two Northern Colorado businesses have agreed to provide a discount, to cadets, on some of these items. If you are a member of a Law Enforcement agency and have an approved DUTY firearm you may use that for the POST Academy.

How much does the academy cost?

The cost for the 2017 academy will be $2,500.

Cadets purchase their own ammunition (1,500 rounds). It is recommended that you begin saving and purchase your ammunition now from local or online vendors. It must be Full Metal Jacket and no more than 115gr for 9mm, 180gr for 40 cal. and 230gr for 45 ACP. They must be made of brass and from a reputable manufacturer.

When is the money due?

Please have check or cash ready ;on ;orientation day. This fee includes the cost of fingerprinting
