The Weld County Sheriff's Office offers a full Colorado POST Academy for jail deputies looking to transfer to the patrol division. The POST Academy is not open to the general public and WE DO NOT ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FROM NON-LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL.

The Weld County Law Enforcement Training Academy has been providing quality law enforcement education since the spring of 1994. During its 20 plus years, the academy has consistently provided cadets with a balanced environment that promotes teamwork, integrity and the tools to successfully serve their community.

The Weld County Law Enforcement Training Academy is a certified educational institution, which will allow veterans to use the GI Bill and Post-9/11 GI Bill to pay for tuition. For information about how to use your benefits, please click the links below.

WCSO Employees - Please read WCSO Policy/Procedure 10.5.100 & 10.5.200 for firearms.

WCSO-approved handgun manufacturers include:

Beretta, Sig Sauer, Glock, H&K, Smith & Wesson, Ruger, Kimber, Colt, Para Ordinance, Springfield and Browning.

Below is a link to a list of required equipment you will need while attending the WCLETA. Two Northern Colorado businesses have agreed to provide a discount to cadets on some of these items. If you are a member of a law enforcement agency and have an approved duty firearm, you may use it for the POST Academy.
