Weld Sheriff’s Office participates in birthday parade for 6-year-old Hudson girl

Posted on 04/14/2020

The Weld County Sheriff’s Office this weekend participated in a multi-agency parade to celebrate the birthday of a Hudson girl.

Jennifer turned 6 years old on Saturday, but because of social distancing and the statewide stay at home order issued in response to the Coronavirus pandemic, the girl’s parents were unable to throw their daughter a birthday party.

Colorado State Patrol’s Troop 3A Office in Greeley learned Jennifer would not be able to celebrate her birthday this year with friends and decided to coordinate a parade with other local public safety agencies. A total of 20 vehicles from the state patrol, the sheriff’s office, Hudson Marshal’s Office and the Hudson Fire Protection District participated in the drive-by.

The parade included motorcycles, police cruisers, a fire engine and an ambulance, all of which passed Jennifer’s house with lights flashing and sirens blaring. Several officers and firefighters also wished Jennifer a happy birthday over their vehicle’s public address speaker as she waved from the sidewalk in front of her house.

The Weld County Sheriff’s Office would like to wish Jennifer a happy 6th birthday, and we hope by this time next year she’s able to celebrate her 7th with a proper party with all her friends.
