Weld County Jail suspends inmate visitation due to COVID-19 test results

Posted on 06/10/2020

The Weld County Jail has suspended all personal visitation for inmates, including remote and lobby visits, until further notice.

The decision was made Tuesday in the wake of facility-wide testing which revealed 23 inmates are positive for COVID-19, also known as the Coronavirus.

Last week, the Weld County Sheriff’s Office tested 392 of 468 inmates of the jail. The agency received the results of those tests on Monday.

All 23 inmates who tested positive are asymptomatic. A second round of facility-wide testing takes place in two weeks.

The decision to suspend jail visitation does not apply to professional visitors, such as defense attorneys.
