Weld deputies searching for man accused of stealing equipment from local business

Posted on 11/19/2020

The Weld County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man suspected of stealing more than $8,000 worth of equipment and tools from a local rental business.

The theft occurred on Oct. 22 when the suspect went to United Rentals, 4068 Camelot Circle near Longmont, and rented a 2021 Felling F-6 tandem axle flat bed trailer, a 2018 Husqvarna 14-inch cutoff saw, a 14-inch cutoff blade and a Honda 6,500 watt generator. The man has since failed to return the items, which are valued at $8,535.52.

An investigation into the transaction revealed the man used a fictitious name when he rented the equipment and likely has no intention of returning the items. Security camera footage shows the man driving a large gray pickup truck to and from United Rentals. The footage did not provide a clear image of the license plate.

Anyone with information about the crime, the pickup or the man in the photo is asked to call or text Deputy Alex Fischer at (970) 815-1637.

Anyone with information regarding this or any other crime can also call the Weld County Sheriff’s Office at (970) 356-4015 or Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
