Announcement Regarding Grant Application

The Bureau of Justice Assistance provides funding to the Weld County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Greeley Police Department through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG).  This federal grant is administered through the Department of Justice and is intended to further the Agency’s mission to assist state and local jurisdictions to prevent or reduce violence and crime.

The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG) grant funds can be used for a wide variety of purposes including state and local initiatives, technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, and information systems for criminal justice.  Several restrictions apply to justice assistance grant funds.

The City of Greeley Police Department is the fiscal agent for the grant and is completing the application process for 2017.  The grant application will include funding requests for the Weld County Sheriff’s Office and the Greeley Police Department.  Funds have been designated for both agencies based on population and Part I violent crime data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Uniform Crime Reports.
