Officer Involved Shooting Update

This Press Release is being distributed on behalf of the 19th judicial Critical Incident Response Team.

At approximately 0242 hours, on February 6, 2019, an Officer with the Lasalle Police Department was involved in a shooting after responding to a call for service involving a suspicious vehicle in the area of Highway 85 and County Road 394 in unincorporated Weld County near Lasalle, CO.

The 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team will be handling this investigation.

This is an active investigation and more details will be released as they become available. All media inquiries will be handled by the Weld County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Office in association with the 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team.

The suspect involved in this incident has been identified as Seth Keo Mallard (DOB 09/14/1998). Mallard was declared deceased at approximately 0348 on 02/06/2019. The cause and manner of death will be released by the Weld County Coroners Office at the conclusion of the forensic investigation.

The officer involved was not harmed during the incident. The officer has been placed on paid administrative leave in accordance with department policy during the duration of this investigation. The identity of the officer will not be released at this time.
