Patrol Districts

The Weld County Sheriff's Office's jurisdiction covers approximately 4,017 square miles. The sheriff's office has divided the county into four sections referred to as districts so that we can better service the citizens of Weld County. These districts were created using the Sheriff's philosophy of community policing. In accordance with those guiding principles, deputies are assigned to patrol districts on a continuing, routine basis. The community policing philosophy also has deputies working to be a part of the communities to assist the citizens in resolving the problems that affect the quality of life of that area. In an effort to be part of the community, the sheriff's office regularly participates in the neighborhood watch areas that are established throughout the districts. Deputies view themselves as partners in the communities they serve and can provide citizens with resources beyond strictly those relevant to law enforcement. Deputies welcome the many opportunities to meet with the citizens in their assigned areas and appreciate citizen contact no matter the circumstances.

District 1

District 1 is by far the largest, but also the least populated district in Weld County. District 1 is headquartered at the Weld County Sheriff's Office Administration Building at 1950 O Street in Greeley. District 1 includes the communities of Ault, Eaton, Kersey, Pierce, Severance and Windsor. All of these communities have their own municipal police departments. Many of these departments provide their citizens with community or school resource officers. Many other, smaller towns in District 1, such as Briggsdale, Carr, Galeton, Gill, Grover, Hereford, Keota, Nunn, Raymer and Rockport, do not have their own police departments and rely on the sheriff's office for all of their law enforcement needs. As a county agency, the sheriff's office covers all unincorporated areas of the county and will assist in the municipalities as requested.

District 2

District 2 is headquartered at the Southwest Substation inside the Weld County Complex near the intersection of Interstate 25 and Colorado Highway 119 in Del Camino. District 2 includes the communities of Berthoud, Dacono, Erie, Firestone, Frederick, Johnstown, Longmont, Mead and Milliken. All of these communities have their own municipal police departments. As a contracted county agency, the sheriff's office polices all unincorporated areas of District 2 and will assist inside the municipalities as requested.

District 3

District 3 is headquartered at the Southeast Substation in Fort Lupton. District 3 includes parts of Brighton, as well as Fort Lupton, Hudson, Lochbuie, and Northglenn. All of these communities have their own municipal police departments. As a county agency, the sheriff's office polices the towns of Keenesburg, Roggen and Wattenburg, all unincorporated areas, and will assist in the municipalities as requested.

District 4

District 4 is headquartered at the Weld County Sheriff's Office Administration Building at 1950 O Street in Greeley. Although it is located entirely within District 4, the city of Greeley has it's own municipal police department with it's own Community Service Division and School Resource Officers. In addition to Greeley, District 4 also contains Evans, Garden City, Gilcrest, LaSalle and Platteville, which all have their own municipal police departments. As a county agency, the sheriff's office polices all unincorporated areas and will assist inside the municipalities as requested.
