On April 4, 2024, the Milliken Police Department teamed up with the Weld County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI, and the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office. Together they located Rebecca’s cell phone due to the concern for her safety. Rebecca’s vehicle was later found. Inside the vehicle was a deceased woman.

In-custody death at the Weld County Jail

On May 14, 2024, an inmate at the Weld County jail experienced a medica event was treated by medical staff at the jail. The inmate was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Officer Involved Shooting-Milliken PD

CIRT Press Release, Jun. 3, 2024, Milliken PD responded to a suspicious person at Milliken Elementary School. The suspect who was eventually identified as Colin Brixius made threats to officers and ran at an officer with a large knife. The officer shot Brixius he is expected to survive.

Update: Officer Involved Shooting-Milliken PD

Update! CIRT Press Release, Jun. 3, 2024, Milliken PD issued an arrest warrant for the suspect, Colin Brixius, in last night's shooting. Brixius now faces allegations of Assault in the first degree, and a class 3 felony, Menacing, a class 5 felony. All charges are merely accusations until proven guilty in a court of law.

WCSO Strike Team worked quickly to recover stolen explosives

On June 17th, 2024, WCSO patrol took a report that involved the theft of explosives and equipment. On the same day, law enforcement served a search warrant on a storage unit which lead to evidence related to the theft of the stolen explosives.

On June 20th the WCSO STRIKE team recovered the stolen explosives and equipment.

19th Judicial District Investigates Police Shooting in Weld County, CO

On Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024, WCSO deputies responded to a report of a disturbance. Deputies encountered an adult male who was armed with a firearm. The male discharged the firearm while deputies were on the scene. A Weld County Deputy fired his weapon at the male, striking him twice. The male suspect is expected to survive.
