Temporary closure of Highway 14 on 3/13/23 due to SWAT incident.

On 3/13/23 WCSO deputies responded to the area of 21365 Highway 14, in Weld County, CO in reference to a structure fire.

Deputies learned that witness(es) had seen the homeowner of the residence, Marshall Johnson, walking away from the house while it was on fire. Due to the suspicious nature of the fire, an investigation was initiated, and it was discovered Marshall had an active felony arrest warrant for failure to comply with court conditions stemming from a SWAT related incident approximately 1 year ago. Those charges included burglary, explosives, menacing, assault, and harassment.

Based on the current warrant, coupled with Marshall’s violent criminal history, the Weld County Regional SWAT Team was activated to secure the property and arrest Marshall, who was suspected of hiding in a camper on the property. Due to these operations, Highway 14 was shut down for a period so law enforcement could secure the area and ensure it was safe for travel.

Marshall was subsequently taken into custody peacefully after several hours of negotiating.
