WCSO Annual Youth Advancement Scholarship

WCSO SCHOLARSHIP LOGO 2026Every year the sheriff's office offers a one-time $500.00 scholarship to support one lucky Weld County youth to pursue their higher education!

Students can pick up applications at the following area offices:

  • 1950 “O” Street, Greeley (Sheriff’s Office Administration – Main Office)
  • Southwest County Service Center at 4209 WCR 24 ½, Del Camino

The scholarship applications are distributed to Weld County District high schools, it is posted online, and on our social media platforms. Sheriff Reams will review the applications and pick the winner. The following are the requirements to apply for the scholarship:

  • High school graduation senior or current college/university student
  • A citizen of Weld County
  • Accepted at an accredited university or college

The competitive selection process is based on GPA, the student's need, and their community involvement. The winning student will be notified on March 31, 2026, and scheduled for a day and time when they can come pick up their certificate and take a photo with the sheriff.

For 2026, all applicants must also submit a 500-word essay on the following question: "Should immigration laws be enforced? Please explain why or why not."

All candidates must also submit a completed scholarship application by March 1, 2026, and address it to:
