Two Weld County deputies injured due to deputy discharging weapon during training

[WELD COUNTY, COLO.] Today, at 3:17 P.M. Weld County Sheriff’s Office deputies were participating in firearms training at the Weld County Sheriff’s Office, Sam Brownlee Training Center located in Carr, CO.

Towards the conclusion of training, while no longer on the firing line, and securing their gear, a deputy discharged their firearm and injured themselves and one other deputy. Both deputies were taken to the hospital and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

There is no danger to the public.

This incident is currently under an active internal investigation by the sheriff’s office, and no further details will be released today. ###
