Deputies arrest man after alleged road rage incident near Fort Lupton

[Weld County, COLO.] A 37-year-old man faces felony criminal mischief charges along with several other charges after WCSO deputies were dispatched to a disturbance call yesterday just before 9:30 P.M. in the 4100 block of Meadow Lark Road near Fort Lupton.

The call notes alleged the suspect threw items at the victim’s vehicle and struck the victim’s rear bumper with his own, causing damage.

Another responding patrol deputy located a GMC Yukon that was the same color as the suspect’s vehicle in the area where the suspect’s vehicle was last seen traveling. After following the vehicle, the deputy noticed the driver was unable to maintain his lane of travel, and conducted a traffic stop on the GMC Yukon. The deputy contacted the driver of the Yukon, who was identified as Evan Traxler. While speaking with Traxler the deputy suspected he may be impaired.

Deputies conducted a driving under the influence investigation and an investigation into the disturbance call. Deputies developed probable cause to arrest Traxler on suspicion of the following charges:

  • Drug paraphernalia - possess
  • Criminal mischief $5,000 - $20,000 public
  • Failed to drive in single lane (weaving)
  • Drove vehicle while under influence
  • Possessed open alcoholic beverage container in vehicle
  • Possessed an open marijuana container in a vehicle
  • No proof of insurance

No further information will be released today. All charges are merely accusations, and a defendant is presumed innocent until, unless proven guilty in a court of law. ###
