[Weld County, COLO.] A male and a female were arrested after WCSO deputies were dispatched to a disturbance call yesterday at 11:32 P.M. in the 16600 block of Weld County Road 394 near La Salle. Call notes indicated a fight broke out at a graduation party and 10-20 people were actively fighting.
One responding deputy arrived and encountered multiple people standing around a male and a female who were fighting. The deputy attempted to arrest the male and another female, who was later identified as 40-year-old, Blanca Marquez-Nino pulled the male away from the deputy. The deputy indicated she was trying to take the male into custody, and Marquez-Nino allegedly assaulted the deputy. A large, intoxicated crowd began to form around the deputies, and they called for emergency back up and officers from surrounding agencies assisted. Law enforcement was able to successfully de-escalate the situation.
During their investigation deputies learned a male, not known well by the homeowners had allegedly gone to a location south of where the party was taking place and fired off several rounds with a pistol. The male was later identified as 26-year-old Carlos Renteria. This angered the homeowners and they allegedly disarmed Renteria, cleared the gun, and kicked Renteria off their property. Renteria allegedly reentered the homeowner’s property and instigated a physical fight. Renteria then left the residence on foot. A WCSO drone was deployed, along with responding deputies to search for Renteria and he was found in the backyard of the property.
Renteria was arrested on suspicion of weapon-prohibited use-drunk with a gun and reckless endangerment.
Marquez-Nino was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault on a peace officer and obstructing a peace officer.
No deputies were seriously injured during this incident. The sheriff’s office would like to thank Milliken PD, Evans PD, Garden City PD, and La Salle PD for their response and assistance during this incident. No further information will be released today. All charges are merely accusations, and a defendant is presumed innocent until, unless proven guilty in a court of law. ###
