[Weld County, COLO.] Our detentions deputies work diligently to maintain a safe environment within the jail; however, there are occasions when inmates commit additional crimes while in custody. Our Detentions Criminal Specialist investigates crimes that occur within the facility and, if they establish probable cause they initiate in‑custody charges against the involved inmate.

Yesterday, a Detentions Criminal Specialist at the Weld County Jail investigated a report of a restraining order violation that allegedly occurred on June 4, 2026. The report alleged Weld County inmate, Amy Marcovich, 40, had violated a no contact protection order by calling the protected party while she was in jail.

During the investigation, the Detentions Criminal Specialist discovered that Marchovich had also violated a protection order involving a second victim. After confirming the validity and details of the protection orders, the Detentions Criminal Specialist found there were a total of 136 calls placed starting on 03/19/2026 and going up until 06/05/2026. The Detections Criminal Specialist developed probable cause, and filed in-custody charges on Marchovich for:

  • Stalking Emotional Distress
  • Violation of Protection Order-2 counts
  • Harassment-Repeated Communications That Invade Privacy-2 counts

Weld County Sheriff’s Office detentions deputies will continue to ensure our jail is a safe, humane, wholesome environment, and they will continue to uphold accountability for any offenses committed by inmates while in custody

All charges are merely accusations, and a defendant is presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty in a court of law. ###
