[Weld County, COLO.] A man faces second degree criminal trespass charges following an investigation into a burglary in progress.

Yesterday shortly before 2:00 a.m. Weld County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies responded to a call of a burglary in progress in the 18800 block of Weld County Road 394, near LaSalle, CO.

An unknown male was reportedly attempting to enter a residence through the back door. The first deputy arrived on scene within five minutes and was able to quickly take the suspect, who was later identified as 57-year-old Eddie Martinez, into custody.

After completing their investigation, Martinez was arrested on suspicion of:

  • Criminal Attempt to Commit a Felony
  • Second Degree Criminal Trespass

The sheriff’s office is grateful that no one in our community was hurt and for the deputies who arrived quickly to help.

All charges are merely accusations, and a defendant is presumed innocent until, or unless proven guilty in a court of law. ###
