Female Contractor Arrested for Allegedly Bringing Drugs into Jail

[Greeley, COLO.] A civilian, female contractor working within the Weld County Jail for a little over 10 months, faces multiple charges following an investigation into a tip deputies received.
On June 24, 2026, the sheriff’s office received the tip about a Weld County Jail inmate worker allegedly involved in an intimate relationship with a civilian female contractor that worked in the Weld County Jail. The tip also alleged the couple was actively trying to bring drugs into the jail to distribute and sell to other inmates.
During the investigation, detectives learned the civilian female contractor, who was later identified as 34-year-old, Maria Teresa Rojas-Valerio, was employed at the Weld County Jail. While working inside the jail, Rojas-Valerio reportedly began an intimate relationship with an inmate she supervised.
Through their investigation, detectives discovered Rojas-Valerio had reportedly brought drugs into the Weld County Jail at least nine times. The inmate worker and Rojas-Valerio also reportedly engaged in sexual relations within the Weld County Jail.
Detectives executed a search warrant at Rojas-Valerio’s residence and discovered drugs, which would have been easily accessible to children. Rojas-Valerio was arrested on July 21, 2026.
The Weld County District Attorney’s Office has filed the following charges:

- Controlled Subs-Distribution-Mt/Hr/Kt/Ct
- Controlled Substance-Possession with Distribution-Mt/Hr/Kt/Ct
- Controlled Substance-Conspiracy-Schedule 1,2
- Controlled Substance-Conspiracy-Schedule 1,2-14-225g
- Controlled Substance-Special Offender-Direct Conspiracy
