WCSO announces the Annual Youth Advancement Scholarship for 2026

[Greeley, CO]- In our ongoing effort to advance our community’s youth, the Weld County Sheriff’s Office will award its annual scholarship to one deserving Weld County student who intends on pursuing a degree in higher education. The scholarship will be a one-time $500.00 award.

To be eligible, the applicants must meet the following criteria:

• A high school graduation senior or current college / university student

• A citizen of Weld County, Colorado

• Accepted at an accredited university or college

Students can pick up applications at any of the area offices located at:

1950 “O” Street, Greeley (Sheriff’s Office Administration – Main Office)

Southwest County Service Center at 4209 WCR 24 ½, Del Camino

The applicant must submit a completed application form by March 1st, 2026, to:

The scholarship application must be accompanied by:

  • letter of recommendation by a teacher or counselor from the applicant’s school
  • official certified scholastic transcript
  • 500-word essay on the following question: “Should immigration laws be enforced, please explain why, or why not.”

The competitive selection process is based GPA, student’s need, and community involvement. Finalists will be selected by the Weld County Sheriff’s Office scholarship committee and will be informed by March 31, 2026.
